I'm shocked to see bad reviews about Pinewoods. My Daughter is now in her 5th year attending this school. From the Principal (New and old) all the way down to the janitor's the employees totally care about ALL the children at Pinewoods. Im retired early and yes I do get to spend a lot of time at the school. However 99% of the volunteer come to help out in various classes and not only with their children. I actually have no hands on with my Daughter other then I go to lunch with her every once in awhile. I do understand parents work and have other lives but what is more important then helping shap your own child? And that starts in the home. Help with their homework, get involved when you can. Take them to the after school activity's. The more you get involved the better off your child will be. And in the 5 years I'm been there I have not seen and cliques with the parents. All are frendily and open to all. As a retired Police Officer I know all to well what happens when parents either don't get involved or set the wrong example. Jim Pastore

The school is run by cliques of parents that make sure their kids are recognized and the others left behind. If you have a lot of money and can be in the school at all times involved with the PTO- GO FOR IT! You will be treated good. I agree with previous commentaries in regards to discipline. They are not a team and everyone tries to avoid dealing with serious issues like bullying. There are no consequences and the environment is not safe. This year they have a new administrator that is trying to survive the chaos. BEWARE OF THIS SCHOOL!

Both of my children attended Pinewoods. By textbook standards the first would be considered just about perfect and the second is average. Pinewoods staff failed at their job with my second child. They did a nice job of complaining about him but were unskilled at actually helping him. He doesn't have ADD but he needs to be redirected frequently. His third grade teacher couldn't be bothered and two months in, we withdrew him to homeschool. We never wanted to homeschool a child in elementary school but we were so disappointed in their lack of concern that we were just too downtrodden to put him through 'trying' another school. There are some EXCELLENT teachers there but there are also some that shouldn't be there. He had excellent kindergarten and first grade teachers, the second grade teacher upset him so regulary that we took him to the Dr. several times, ending up with a gastroenterologist who found nothing wrong and then the symptoms stopped over the summer, began with the new school year and ended the day we took him out to homeschool. We hoped that if we made it through 2nd, we would get a kinder teacher in 3rd, but it didn't happen. She wasn't rude, just disinterested.

I absolutely love this school! I went their and all the teachers are wonderful. They do fun activities that enrich a child's mind. I recommend this school to anyone. The staff is well chosen and everything this school does helps a child learn. The PTO is very involved with the school and the principal is very kind. This a great school!

If there are any parents of a 3rd grader needing a tip on which 4th grade teacher their child should have; I am ecstatic to recommend Ms. Whitewood. I can not say enough about her. She is an incredible teacher! She is a nice person and makes the children feel at ease to speak with her, ask questions, and makes them all feel comfortable. She makes learning fun and it is obvious she loves her job and does it for all the Right reasons. I wish my child could have her in her last year at the school. If not, those of you who your child does get in her class, congratulations!

My daughter has been bullied 2 times here this year alone. Mama bear is NOT happy. PINEWOODS HAD BETTER OPEN THEIR EYES TO THE BULLIES. I will not go into details as to what type opf people they were... South Florida - You figure it out. Future gang members bringing their disfunctional metalities and lack of parental guidance into school with them. There is a lack of supervision when children are not in their classrooms. Clearly there is a situation that needs to be dealt with here. 2 times and we are only through the first quarter! I am sure that my daughter is not the only one. ALSO, I am not at all happy with the amount of school work that my children are getting or the opportunity to advance. I would be very concerned if we moved back to Massachusetts . My children may be behind. I once liked this school but I am really begining to despise it.

My 3 kids attended Pinewoods Elementary for 2 years before we moved to one of the top school districts in New Jersey (their new schools are all rated 9's and 10's by Great Schools). Two of my kids were in full-time gifted, one was just entering 2nd grade and tested in. Parents, worry not about the bad rep Florida schools sometimes get in other states (a statewide average doesn't mean that individual school can't be fantastic!) My sons proved to be perfectly well-prepared and on a par if not above par with their New Jersey peers. The only place they may have been a little behind is in creative writing - they've got great report-writing skills but have had to work to get the idea of creative writing, with various types of story openings, literary devices, etc. Pinewoods was a great preparation for all 3 kids!

I am very pleased with Pinewoods. The teachers and staff have been incredible. It has been a positive experience starting my child at Pinewoods and he loves it! You must remember it is not just the school and teachers who are responsible for creating a positive environment for learning. It is our job as well as parents to nurture the desire to learn and follow the lesson plans and homework to help our children learn and gain confidence in their school experience.

There is no better school for your child to go! He/She will be loved and cared after but the best teachers in the area. They will be safe and discipline will be handled fairly. They have a beautiful school with a butterfly garden, and a picnic area. Rest assured that you have made the right choice

I love this school. My son was a quite shy kid at beginning of his kindergarten. Now he has become a social butterfly. He has become confident. It is not only me but all our neighbor have also noticed the difference. I love his teacher MS Panucci who has instilled so much courage in him . She encourages him in everything he does. The principal Dr. Carlin as well the other staff is really good. I rate this school A+++++

I rate the quality of this school A+. They are building a new extention to the original. The new part of the builing will have kindergardeners as well as those students in the gifted program. The level of parent involvment is great. Pinewoods is getting better every day because of parent involvment! The Art, P.E. and Music activties go on every day, so your child will have one of the three. I hope you choose this school for your child!

My daughter attended this school for five years and absolutly loved it. The teachers are the *stars* at this school. I cannot say enough about them. Administration will frustrate a parent with the parochial school mentality. But a parent can feel confident in contacting the teacher and can rest assured of information, assistance and understanding. If you are looking for a school that will nurture, entertain and educate your child this is a great choice.
